Bear with me here. I need to have 125 feet of 2-rail ranch, vinyl fencing
installed. Yeah, I could probably do it myself, but I'd like to up before
next winter. I ordered the fencing from Home Depot and then asked about
having it installed. They gave me the names and numbers of two contractors.
The first is the one they recommend the most. I called him and told him
about the job. He said he could come out Monday (this past) after 6 pm. I
took off work early so that I could be here.
Six o'clock came and went. At 7 pm, I called him. His voice mail said the
mailbox was full and couldn't take messages.
I called again at 8 pm. Same response.
I called at 9 pm. Same response.
I called at 10 pm, and from the sound of it, woke him up. He'd forgotten.
After apologies, we rescheduled for this morning.
Yeah, you know what's coming. No show and no call.
I called the next guy on the list and left a message.
My point - I know these guys are busy; it's that time of year. However, if
they don't want the job, they should at least have the courtesy to say so.
Being a no call/no show has now pissed me off to the point that, when I
return to Home Depot, I will inform them that this guy is unreliable, and
that I certainly would not recommend him. Yes, they're busy. So am I. I
took off work early one day, and wasted half of this day waiting for someone
who lacks the courtesy to even pick up the phone and call. No, he won't get
my business (money), and he will *not* get any kind of positive
reference/recommendation. This behavior is no way to treat, or get,
customers.
