Two, maybe three, years ago I asked for input on the Dekor fiberglass sinks. A number of people shared their experience and offered tips on care. I ordered one and love it. It does require a little more care but not much. I don't pour boiling water in it - but the Instant Hot doesn't bother it. You use a liquid car wax instead of the Soft Scrub type cleansers.
It's a high gloss, black, "freeform" double sink and I use mats in the bottom since we stack dishes in the sink, and I bathe the cats in it, but after all this time we have no scratches, chips, marks etc. In the right light you can see a fine "patina" like you get on silver but when it's freshly waxed it looks brand new. I tried a couple of different brands but a year ago I bought Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax (WalMart). It's strictly for gloss finishes. I bought the kit which includes a large bottle of the liquid wax, a bottle of Scratch X2.0 (buffing wax) an applicator and buffing towel. It is a little more expensive but you use so little it lasts forever and does a beautiful job. I use Dawn liquid for daily cleanup and about once a month I wax it - wipe it on let dry and buff it off. Once in awhile I use the Scratch X2.0 first. I'm so please with this product I'm going to use it on our car for those little fine scratches you get.
So thanks to all of you who responded the first time, I'm glad I had someone to ask and was able to buy it with confidence.
Jan, in SW MO where the spring, and summer, flowers have bloomed and gone and the late summer bloomers are already starting. Hope I still have some color when my family gets here in July and August :) Thank goodness for Knock-out roses.
