Not exactly a do-it-yourself problem, but can someone point me to
some info about elevator controls?
I live in a 9-story condo building (built about 1970) with two
elevators. If someone pushes a call button, both elevators go to
that floor unless they are busy. This is a waste of energy, and is
frustrating to people who are waiting on the first floor watching
both elevators go to 9.
The condo board say they looked into the problem a while ago, but
were told that nothing could be done without replacing the elevators.
That's not going to happen because the elevators are otherwise fine
and replacing them would be very expensive.
Seems to me that this is a common problem and someone should have
solved it. Isn't there a control mechanism that we could add to the
system?
I have done some searching but maybe I don't know the right phrases
to look for. Any assistance would be appreciated. adTHANKSvance!
