[DIY] Redress old concrete front porch?

Ranch type brick house with hurricane roof, built in 1955.
Subject: Old, porous, concrete, exposed walkway attached to front of home, with many smooth pebbles showing. 40' long x 5 1/2' wide. No expansion joints provided so this slab has created its own, 4. One crack, the widest- forms a 1/2" deep V , almost 2" wide in one spot and that crack runs from the front step, to the house, right at the entrance. The rest of the cracks are narrow and are not an eye-sore.

I want to repair this big crack with something that will accept sealant & possibly stain. I would like the patch to allow for the natural breathing the cement needs during weather changes.
I also would like some advice on creating a texture or color on this concrete that will not be a solid color, but will have some tactful variation as it is such a big area. I can put on a base coat of something and then sponge stipple a subtile contrasting color if no one has a better suggestion. Should the porch be sealed first? I just pressure washed the surface and actually don't mind the natural light gray, stony surface, so might just get by with a patch and sealant. I am not a perfectionist and like an unkept, flower filled cottage-look, but that big crack is a bit too tattered for me.
