That's right. To fix it, the unit has to be pumped down (tech jargon) and the leak soldered.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that the repairman told my husband that there's a slow freon leak from the coils on top of the unit in the basement (ouch again!!).  I think I'm saying that correctly.  Does that sound right?
