Re: [DIY] WATER TUBE IN SWAMP COOLER NOT PUTTING OUT WATER...

do you have hard water, if so it may well be a mineral buildup in the tube. especially since the flow is so small and slow.
it shouldn't be that hard to remove the tube, soak an hour or so in vinegar to dissolve the minerals clean out and replace it.
even a water softener will allow a sludge deposit over time so periodic cleaning is best.
i would also check to make sure the pump is working. again, mineral deposits can be the problem, except i doubt you can clean the pump. these are usually very basic appliances, so regular cleaning shouldn't be that hard and will pay off in the long run.

> Hi. My swamp cooler was installed a year ago. It is a small one that fits into a pre-cut hole in the side of the house. It seemed to be working okay when I first uncovered it from the winter sheathing and got the bobber thing set just right. It has a small hose running from the faucet to the cooler. It was doing absolutely nothing today and not much yesterday so I unplugged it and took the front cover off. The straw filters were all dry. There is only a drop or two coming from the one drip hose I can see. (I know, I cannot find the instructions anywhere... I know I didn't toss them.) How is the drip hose set so it will put water onto the filters? Should it be dripping or spraying? I can't see what is going on with the other two drip tubes but the main one in front is merely dripping. Is there something I should do to clean the pump?? I had it all emptied and covered for the winter. THANKS!! OVERHEATED IN COLORADO!! Darci
