Re: [DIY] WATER TUBE IN SWAMP COOLER NOT PUTTING OUT WATER...

the mineral deposits that form are just the minerals from the ground that have dissolved in the water. and some even propose that they are good for you. i know i would rather drink from a deep water well than from the treated water in the city. you can put filters on your water to get rid of the "bugs" and taste filters and iron filters ect. if that's what worries you. they are simple to install and change out.
check the pump before replacing it, it might still be good. maybe run some cider vinegar (the dark stuff) thru it.
basically all the pump is, is a glorified aquarium pump--it pumps water from the holding basin up to the spreader that trickles it down over the cooling fiber mats that the fan blows air thru.
here in bubba land missouri, the humidity is so bad i pour about 3gal of water out of my basement dehumidifier every few days. and believe me a dehumidifier sucks up the electricity. be glad you're in the dry climate.

I have seen what it does to the pipes, the hot water heater, the dishwasher, anything in its way!!! I guess I will do the vinegar thing on the tubes and get a replacement pump!! Thank goodness it is getting down to the low 60's at night!!! The electric company loves me.. 9 fans all running day and night... facing in towards the house - out away from the house ... down from the ceiling. Colorado used to be such a (literally) COOL place to live!!
