Thanks for your response, freespirt2050.  That touch up coating sounds interesting.

Any advice on other fasteners?  Attaching welded wire (kind of like chicken wire) to wood.  My only other thought is that they probably make hot dipped galvanized fence staples that you manually hammer.  Pneumatic stapling would be so much quicker though.

I would think the Electro plated may be, because of the plating process, but the dipping may leave a heavier coating, If it is scraped of, Obviously the metal will be less protected, but the sell a producd whic is cold galvanize which is in a spray can, for touch up. Tehy do make other types of outdoor fasteners you could look into, just depends on what your fastening.
