Not the whole house, but the job that was contracted - new front porch, new
roof on the extention (which morphed into a new header on the porch of the
extention) and demolition of the old garage. They guys left about an hour
and a half ago. I've added some new pics to the album here -

The porch is gorgeous. All the work is well done. It was actually nice to
have workers *not* in a big hurry to finish because it meant the attention
 to detail that really shows.

Soooo...now that the contractor is done, it's time for some DIY. I have to
deal with that bare wall exposed now that the garage is gone. First job is
house wrap, and then some siding, to protect it. Siding has to be vinyl,
even though the rest of the house is in aluminum. Aluminum would be a
special order and just cost way too much at this point. So this little bit
 will be vinyl.

Oh, and I have two souvenirs from the old porches. Two bird nests. The one
from the front porch has had a family of house finches (this year) and a
family of rose-breast grosbeaks (last year). The one from the back porch
had a family of robins (this year) and a family of blue jays (last year).
