Re: [DIY] WATER TUBE IN SWAMP COOLER NOT PUTTING OUT WATER...

While I'm familiar with the way a swamp cooler works one of the guys could explain it better.  Think of blowing on a cup of coffee to cool it off - but replace the coffee with a block of ice.  I don't know where the name originated but if you use one in a closed room it raises the humidity fast and you feel like you're in a swamp :)

Your question reminded me of a TV show last week, where the guy had died of electrical shock with no obvious cause.  Turns out he had rigged up a form of swamp cooler by using a block of ice and a fan to stay cool. The ice melted, he had bare feet, the old cord had been plugged into an extension.  A short caused electrocution but by the time the cops got there the ice had melted and the water dried up.  The guy was just sitting in his chair with the fan in front of him.
